The Macabre Mobile.....

This is my latest project.... Elvira's Macabre Mobile.

This came to me in a care package from a friend of mine in beantown. He's been cleaning house and has sent me all kinds of models he needed to let go of. Thank you Michael!!! you're awesome!!!!

This will be my second attempt to build the Macabre Mobile. The first time around was years ago. I'd gone out and got a model of it right after seeing the movie for the umpteenth time. At that time my modeling skills were mediocre and I didn't have much in the way of modeling tools or paints. So, I skipped painting the body since it was molded in black. Just relied on polishing the plastic up. And the interior consisted of taking some tan paint I had and then some rust or brown paint to make the spots on the "faux" Leopard skin seat covers. Then silver was used to dot the tops of the door panels and dash board. All in all, it was ok for a first try. Needless to say, it didn't survive. At least I don't think it did. I have a couple of boxes of models I've had for a long time. It may actually be in those models... but not sure.

This time around however, my modeling skills have improved greatly over the last year and a half due to my daily practice! So, this time the car will be FABULOUS!!! So far I've got the body started. I'm working on eliminating details on this 1958 Body mold that aren't correct for the 1959 Model which the Macabre Mobile looks to be in the pictures I've seen of it. So, I eliminated the four little pieces of trim on the doors, and the Thunderbird script on the front fenders. Right now I'm trying to fill some imperfections in the body plastic.

I may also be scratch building small detail parts which I've had a bit of experience with... But, we'll see how that goes with this scale.

Here it is now September 4 2011 Here's the latest updates on my Macabre Mobile. So far, I've gotten the interior painted, the exterior and some of the detailing done. I took pictures today of my test assembly.... just to satisfy my curiosity about how it's coming along.

Well, the day has come. I've finished!! Well, mostly anyway. I still have a couple of little things here and there I'd like to do to it. But, that'll happen all in good time.
